Delano, MN · Wright County
Sunshine Sprinkler Systems serves Delano, MN with sprinkler installation, repair, spring startup, winterization, and commercial irrigation service. Delano is a fast-growing Wright County city on the Crow River with its own municipal utility and a housing stock that is actively expanding. It adopted new odd/even watering restrictions in 2024 — and many residents are still learning the rules. We program every system in Delano to run within those parameters from the first season.
Service 01
Delano is served by Delano Municipal Utilities, a city-owned nonprofit utility providing water and electric service. Installation starts with an on-site pressure check against the DMU supply, followed by zone design, arc-pattern head placement, and precipitation rate matching across every zone. We offer installation packages at multiple price points, including a Hydrawise smart controller option that connects to local weather data and adjusts run times automatically.
Delano's soils are Wright County glacial moraine — a mix of loam and clay loam in most areas, heavier than the sandy Anoka Sand Plain cities to the northeast. Clay content means the soil holds moisture longer but is also prone to compaction and runoff if the irrigation rate exceeds infiltration speed. Cycle-and-soak scheduling addresses this: shorter run times repeated across the watering window rather than one long cycle. We build this into the programming on every new installation.
Delano adopted its first odd/even watering restrictions in April 2024. A smart controller that automatically tracks your address's watering day and stays within the time window makes compliance effortless and protects you from fines. Every estimate is done on-site, and Jon lays out every job personally.
Additional Services
Mid-season problems happen: broken heads, stuck valves, leaks you do not notice until your water bill arrives. Our service technicians carry Hunter, Toro, and Rain Bird parts on every truck, so most repairs get handled in a single visit. We service all makes and models, including systems we did not install.
We offer spring startup service throughout Delano each season. We turn the water on, fire up every zone, inspect the heads, check for leaks, and make any needed adjustments. If we find something that needs repair while we are there, we open a separate work order at an hourly rate. Delano's new odd/even restrictions make spring startup the right time to confirm your controller is programmed correctly for the season.
Before the ground freezes, every irrigation system in Minnesota needs to be blown out. Water left in the lines will expand, crack pipes, and damage heads and valves over winter. We schedule fall blowouts throughout Delano each season. Call early as our fall schedule fills fast.
Commercial Irrigation
Delano is a growing small city with a commercial base centered on the Bridge Avenue downtown corridor along the Crow River, plus the Highway 12 and Highway 25 corridors. Delano High School and the school district campus represent institutional properties with athletic fields and grounds maintenance needs. The city's ongoing residential growth is also generating new commercial development at its edges.
We provide commercial irrigation installation and service for business properties, school facilities, and commercial landscaping accounts throughout Delano and the surrounding Wright County area.

Jon personally designs every new installation. You are not getting a two-year foreman with a tape measure. The person who built your system is the same person who designed it.
Jon, his son Sam, and Jolene run this business. When you call, Jolene picks up. When we come to measure, it is Jon. When install day comes, it is Jon and Sam.
More Google reviews than our local competitors, and we earn them one job at a time. No franchise standards. No shortcuts. Every system is one we stand behind.
Delano's Utilities Commission voted in April 2024 to adopt odd/even watering restrictions, effective May 1, 2024. This was Delano's first-ever standing watering ordinance. Odd-numbered addresses water on odd-numbered days of the month; even-numbered addresses water on even days. Fines may be issued for violations. The city did not have these rules before spring 2024, so many homeowners are still getting familiar with them.
A smart irrigation controller handles compliance automatically — it tracks your watering day and runs within the permitted window without any manual management. If you are unsure of the current time-of-day restrictions or fine schedule, contact Delano Municipal Utilities directly for the full ordinance text. Delano's sewer charges are calculated on winter water usage only, so irrigation does not inflate your sewer bill during the summer months.
